F.A.Q.

Do I need therapy?

The short answer, yes! I think every single person can benefit from therapy. There is such a stigma that therapy is for the “broken”. This is not true. Therapy can be used for an added layer of support through life’s guaranteed peaks and valleys or it can be sought out during more critical times when someone feels like their whole world is crashing down. In my opinion, there is no person who is not a good candidate for therapy. Working on yourself and giving yourself dedicated time and space to grow is the best thing you can do for you!

What to expect during first session… and all of the rest?

We will schedule a 15-minute consultation so that both of us can gather a little understanding of one another and determine if this is a good fit. It is acceptable, and even encouraged, to “shop around” for therapists. This is an extremely personal relationship and it is so important that you feel safe and comfortable. If that goes well, we will schedule our first appointment. I will send you some paperwork that needs to be filled out prior to our first session. Then, we will meet for the first time. I will gain some more insight on what is bringing you to therapy. You will then have a chance to direct your own therapy. I will just be there to guide you in becoming the best version of yourself.

Do you accept insurance?

I do NOT accept insurance. The question that follows is often “Why?” I have affiliation with one of the bigger insurance companies in NJ and it can get a little tricky navigating both things without there being a conflict of interest.

What are your fees?

I will offer a “Pay What You Can Model”. This will be discussed during a 15-minute consultation. I will ask what you think you can afford to pay for therapy and we will work out costs together. This is NOT a sliding scale and every person will pay what they determine they can afford. We can re-evaluate costs yearly or if a major life event happens.

What modalities do you use?

I practice many modalities. I tend to lean toward a person-centered approach where I allow my clients to play the role of expert in their own lives. I tend to focus on how client’s strengths can support their areas of desired improvement. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). With all of that being said, every single person deserves their own uniquely tailored approach. As we get to know each other, I will adjust my own approach to support you in a way that makes the most sense for you.

Where are you located?

I am located wherever you feel most comfortable (as long as we are both in New Jersey). Still We Rise will launch as a fully virtual practice. There may be a hybrid model in the future.

Is there a cancellation policy?

I would like to say, “No”. Life happens. You will need to cancel, I will need to cancel, we are all humans here. I do ask that the lack of cancellation policy not be taken advantage of. If you “late cancel” (less than 12 hours notice) regularly, we will need to have a chat about what you/me/we can do differently to avoid it in the future.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can click on “Get Started” at the top of this page to fill out a form. You can email ashley@stillwerise.me. Or, you can call (201)208-2022. I most quickly respond to emails.
